This course does not include a formal requirement of pre-requisite courses; however, students who are enrolled are expected to have a significant knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics gained from the second-year courses. The performance evaluation of engines requires this knowledge, which must have gained from the earlier stage learning. There will be no repeated learning of these basic knowledge in this course. It is also recommended to take advanced thermofluids (a third-year course) prior to this course to maximise the learning outcomes.
